Scientists

Hawking was born on 8 January 1942 (which just happened to be the

300th anniversary of Galileo's death) in Oxford to Frank and Isobel

Hawking.Hawking's mother was Scottish.

Steven Hawking is a very famous scientist who many might know to have died recently

on the day of the young speaker challenge (Wednesday 14th March 2018). Many know

him from his medical condition where he was parayzed fully. So how would he speak

to us? He spoke by using his eyes, the only part of him not paralyzed. He had a screen attached to his wheelchair which could detect his eye movement on a keyboard which

would allow the computer to speak for him.

Hawking was born with a special condition where his control over his body got worse

over the years, eventually leading to him being fully disabled. In 2006 it was revealed

that he had always wanted to go to space. In 2007, he conducted a zero gravity

experiment on himself and it showed that disabled, he could still go to space. He

planned to go to space in 2009 but there were many delays until he died. His family

say he died in peace.
