Florence Nightingale was the world's first nurse in the 20th century whose name has a familiar ring to Maltese.

Florence Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820 in Florence Italy. She was British, English. She died in August 13, 1910.

She loved to write and to travel. She spoke many languages. Florence had a natural skill for analyzing data.

Her nickname was Lady with the lamp because during the war she walked through the wards to control the soldier's health with a lamp in her hands,at nights.

Florence Nightingale continues to be recognised as the nurse leader, introducing hygiene practices that reduced mortality rates.
