A cats paradise

Varjak fell asleep. He had gone back to Mesopotamia. The cat immediately went to the river. Unexpectedly, Varjak saw fish that were devoid of emotion. He was a statue for about a minute. In the distance, the amber eyed cat saw Elder Paw standing there with eyes as green as emeralds. The air tasted like ripe dates. Zigzag trees danced while the air bloomed with laughter. Silently, Jalal crept up on the amber eyed cat like an owl catching its prey. At midday, Varjak could feel rain poking his back. The light was beginning to shine through the clouds as fast as lightning. There where birds singing in the autumnal trees...
