Year 4 go to....

On Monday 27th March, lots of excited children from Year 4 visited the land of Robin Hood, for a three day residential trip to Sherwood Forest.

Our first stop was Sherwood Pines where we were met by a ranger called Karina who took us for a short walk through the forest to a bush craft area. Here we had our lunch before participating in two fun and exciting activities. One group took part in a fire lighting activity, practising lighting fires with different materials and then toasting marshmallows onto a fire that they had created. The other group, developed their team work skills, by having to take a 'dummy' person called Frank through an assault course in a timed mission to get medical treatment!

The next day, we visited a beautiful National Trust place called Clumber Park. Here we had a lovely morning bike ride around the lake. In the afternoon, we did some pond dipping and bird watching before shelter building. The children were challenged to build a shelter that could fit all of them in, fifteen minutes later the challenge was complete! We were pretty tired at the end of the day!

On our final day, we made our way to White Post Farm where we met Rachel our guide for the day. During the morning we walked around the outside areas of the farm to see what animals lived there. Among the many animals we saw, the children were able to feed llamas, sheep and goats. After lunch we all had the opportunity to hold a baby chick, a baby mouse and a guinea pig, as well, feeding birds while they landed on us! We had lots of fun at the farm together and before getting on the coach to come home, we played in the adventure park and visited the gift shop to spend our money!
