Tim Peake

The International Space Station (I.S.S) in length is 109m which is equivalent to 13 of our 8 m classroom.It's first component launched into orbit in 1998. The last module was fitted in 2011.Development of the station still goes on with components scheduled for launch in 2018 and 2019.The I.S.S has low earth orbit at 400km (400,000m).The station is suited for the testing

of spacecraft systems and equipment required for missions to the moon and mars.It cost 150 million USD.

Tim Peake was the 7th British person to travel into space.In 1992 he joined and became a flight instructor and helicopter pilot.On January 14th 2016 Tim Peake completed his very first space walk,he also completed his space walk with another astronaut but his partner had to be sent back because water started filling his helmet.In 2016 Tim Peake became the first official British astronaut

to walk in space.In 2015 he became the first British European space agency astronaut to live on the I.S.S.
