1) Spellings
This week in class, we have learnt about the prefixes that have Greek and Latin origins
Auto (Greek) = self
Bi ( Latin) = 2
Tele ( Greek) = far off/ from a distance / afar
Learn the spellings and practise handwriting joins also. Do this in a way that suits you. Ideas may include:
* in rice / lentils/ sand ( to feel the joins)
* in different colours
* on a whiteboard
* on different types of paper
* Look-cover-write-check
* in chalk outside
2) Times tables
we are focusing on division and factors again. The Year 5 skill is:
use mental strategies to recall multiplication tables for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 and use to solve division problems
* Use TT rockstars
* Use J2Blast
* Revisit your My Maths online homework
* chant
* write out your tables
* ask your parents to challenge you by calling the out of order
YOU WILL BE CHALLENGED SOON ON YOUR TIMES TABLES!
