What is Valentine’s Day?

This takes place on the 4th February, a day when it is traditional to send a card, often anonymously, to a person one is romantically involved with or attracted to. Here is an example of what would be written in a card"I want to be with the woman I love on Valentine's Day". Sometimes love poems are involved and also, proposals happen.

History of Valentines:

St Valentines was once a priest who lived in the Roman times and he illegally married people who were still fighting in the Roman army (the Emperor banned marriage as he thought soldiers were better single). He was then caught and sent to prison where he healed his jailer’s daughter; sadly he was killed by being beaten to death and getting beheaded. It is celebrated on the day of his death by remembering how he fought for the rights of love.
