The Famous Diary

Whilst on this epic mission, he kept a famous diary and wrote down all of the days and things on that day. He had days like:

When they set off.

When they reached the South Pole

When they were low on supplies

The Journey

Once they set off, they all felt really confident and went quick straight away. But once they were about 250-300 miles in, they felt the pain. They were saving supplies for later on in the journey but then they didn't have supplies for the first part. So on the way back, they soon perished and the journey ended.

Robert Falcon Scott

Robert falcon Scott is a famous explorer for heading to the South Pole in a race with the Norwegians. He went in a party of 5 who helped him on his mission.

All About Him

Robert Falcon Scott was born on the 6th of June 1868 in Devonport. He became a naval cadet at the age of 13 and served on a number of Royal Navy ships in the 1880s and 1890s. He attracted the notice of the Royal Geographical Society, which appointed him to command the National Antarctic Expedition of 1901-1904.

The Big Question

The question that everyone asks is about to be answered ... How did he die? Well, the answer is STARVATION! On the journey back to the boat, they ran out of supplies and just kept on going but just couldn't cope and in the end, it became to much and they gave up about halfway back to the boat.
