Year 5 attended a trip to the Islamic centre for R.E work. Mr.Samir one of the year 6 pupils parents taught year 5 about Islam and the Mosque. All of the children said that they really enjoyed and they wanted to go again, they especially enjoyed the authentic food.

Mr.Voaden commented on the visit saying:

" We walked from school to the mosque. When we arrived we took off our shoes and then entered the prayer hall.

We all watched a video on Islam and the five pillars and we were given a demonstration on how they pray. I found the visit very interesting and informative. The children represented the school very well - being all they could be."

What's On in Carmarthenshire

Year 4 Christmas Concert

On December 12th, Year 4 put on a spectacular Christmas performance called "The Jigsaw". The show was about a group of children who were given a very special jigsaw that told the 'Nativity Story'. Each jigsaw piece was acted out by the Year 4 pupils. We have interviewed the teaching staff and two pupils to find out how they felt and what happened!

Ffion:

Ffion told us that her favourite part of the performance was watching her friends perform on stage. Ffion also said that all of her class mates did extremely well and did not forget any of their lines. Her favourite song was 'Forgotten Toys'. She had two roles which were the 'Toy Seller' and the ' Golden Angel’; she particularly liked the ' Golden Angel'. In the class, there was a popular part which was one of the children, coincidentally if Ffion could have had another role she would of wanted to be Meg or Eve, which were one of the children. She also stated that it was hard to learn her lines because there were a few tricky words. The last thing Ffion said to us was that it was a bit nerve-racking waiting to go on stage, because there were a lot of people in the audience and she had to sing a solo (her solo was forgotten toys).

Mrs. Paige - Teaching Assistant:

We also interviewed Mrs.Paige, she said that it was really fun to organise the show and the children were brilliant and well behaved. But at the same time it was very stressful for the teachers getting the costumes and set ready. All the teachers had different jobs, Mrs.Page's job was getting the angels ready to perform. Mrs.Paige's favourite scene was Herod and it was also her favourite song. Only the day before the show, it started to come together, which made it even more stressful. The children performed very well on the day and everyone learnt their lines. If Mrs.Page could of had a part she would of liked the part of the Golden Angel.

Sporting Achievements

Boys Rugby Tournament

On Friday 27th January a group of Year 5 and 6 boys entered a rugby tournament held in the Carmarthen Athletic Barn. They were very successful as they won all of their games. They played two games against Richmond Park School.

Girls Rugby Tournament

On Thursday 4th March 2017 a group of Year 6 girls entered a rugby tournament held in the Athletic Barn in Carmarthen. They were successful throughout the tournament. This was their first tournament with one win out of four.
