HALLOWEEN

Halloween is celebrated annually on the 31st of October.  It is the most favourite festival for kids as they are able to get huge amount of candies by trick or treating. It is the evening just before the two Christian holy days called the All Hallows’ Day: All Saints’ on 1st November and All Souls’ Day on 2nd November. Also, the end of summer is celebrated called Samhain.

Why is Halloween called Halloween? As it is the evening before the All Hallows’ Day, it was called All Hallows’ Eve. Later on with time it changed into Halloween.

How is it celebrated?

  • Kids and adults wear different costumes and attend costume parties.
  • Big pumpkins are carved into lanterns and put off for display by people in their houses.
  • Some people like to visit haunted locations on Halloween where they share scary stories with each other.
  • People also play pranks and tricks to scare each other.
  • Those who like to stay home watch horror movies.
  • Superstitious people light bonfires or candles to keep their house safe from ghosts and evil spirits.
  • trick or treat, kids go to every house and ask "trick or treat?". the house owners give them sweets or candies. If a house owner do not give any candles then the children will perform a trick or prank on them.

How long has Halloween been around? Halloween has been around for over 2000 years ago!
