This is a blog entry about my hobby. I have been building a model railway with my dad. The railway is in our loft.We started off by making small basic layouts on our living room floor, which annoyed the rest of the family! The reason we decided to put a permanent railway in the loft was because one of the engines got clogged up with dust that it picked up from being on the floor. At first we just had a small loop of track but over time we have begun to add extensions and now the track runs all the way around the loft.

Now we've got the track layout complete, we're starting to add scenery. We have made a basic station and a suspension bridge and we're starting to create a hill with a tunnel running through it. We plan to make some roads and will add more detail and buildings to the station. We have decided to make the model like a preserved railway like the Severn Valley Railway, because it's a place we like visiting.

I enjoy this hobby as I am learning to make scenery and am slowly building an interesting collection of model trains, carriages and buildings. I'm also learning about electric circuits and making the track and points work. I managed to fix one of the engines that stopped working when a cog fell out and we fixed another engine by adding small weights inside the body to make the wheels grip the track better. This hobby helps me relax because it's fun just running trains around the track.
