GLOW WORMS

Glow worms (Lampyis Nactoila) are actually very small, they're as small as a pen lid. They wont be seen very often as they are only noticeable at night. The reason they are called glow worms is because the females light up to attract the males.

APPEARANCE

Lampyis nactoila not all glow up.

Female glow worms are the lucky ones,

as they can glow and because of this,

they resemble lava. Their bodies are

greyish-brown and have an amazing

yellowy orange marking on their sides.

The marking is very similar to a triangle.

These mini beasts grow up to only 15mm

long and have no legs. They move around

by moving their bodies up and down in a

wiggly way.

WHERE GLOW WORMS LIVE!

Glow worms are found in all different places. Some of the areas, they are found in are, meadows, parks, peoples gardens and under dirty, wet stones.These harmless beasts,live in groups. This is to protect them from other creatures. Even though they live in groups, you wouldn't notice them because of how quiet and careful they are.

DIET

Glow worms only eat 2 small creatures:

. Small snails

.slugs

LIFE!

Glow worms do not live for very long.

Most are born in May and only live till

late August. In the month of June and

July they are most noticeable because

this is when the female glow worms

light up to attract the males.

. Females can glow up to 7 hours.
