How can volcanoes erupt?
A volcano is one of the most
catastrophic events can
happen. When a volcano erupt,
it can be terrifying for those
involved, because innocent lives
are lost.
To understand why volcanoes cause such destruction, you first need to know the crazy science behind them. Incredibly, the earth consists four layers: inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. The crust is the surface we live;it may seem steady and stable but beneath the earths surface its cracked into large pieces, which are called tectonic plates. If one of the tectonic plates is pushed down to the mantle, then the mantle is then squeezed up to the magma, which then makes the lava come out.
First, when a volcano strikes, you could feel the ground shaking and that's called tremor.Once you have felt the ground
shaking, you will hear a loud explosion. When you look up to the sky, you can see the ash clouds. Ash clouds are
poisonous, which is why people cover their faces.
When two plates get jammed
, one plate is pushed down,
the magma comes out of the
volcano through the vent.
When it explodes its renamed
lava. Lava is blistering hot.
Next, a pyroclastic flow appear.
A pyroclastic flow is a cloud made
out of gas, ash cloud and lava. Its a mixture that races down the volcano at 400 miles per hour(mph). People's lives are now in danger. The landscape is ruined. Volcanoes can be dangerous.
Overall, volcanic eruptions are devastating events which can cause destruction. Don't worry its not all bad! In fault, sometimes volcanic eruption can be a good thing! You may think i'm crazy, but volcanoes can make new hill for you to live in. It part of life cycle. Which is why you should be grateful for volcanoes.
