First Minister Will be Visiting Johnstown School

Our school's kitchen was in major need of an update. The equipment was getting old, and some of it was not working properly. The equipment energy efficiency was terribly poor and this was affecting the school's impact on the environment . Therefore, to ensure that our kitchen was still able to make dinner for us all , whilst also being more environmentally friendly, we had funding from the Local Education Authority through the Welsh Government to help us do our important renovations.

Due to these circumstances, we had to have cold meals in the last fortnight before the summer holidays, so that the workers could begin doing their important job. The job was due to take eight weeks, however it was worth while as now the kitchen looks amazing!!

In addition, the Carmarthenshire County Council has been looking to find food supplies from our local area. This is important because when food travels from a long way in trucks or planes, the fumes and pollution contributes to green house gasses.

What is Climate Action13?

Click on the link above to watch a short clip of our Cook giving us a tour of the new kitchen.

Climate Action13 is part of the Global Goals World initiative. Climate Action is one of the most important goals in this project because it impacts on our futures. Therefore, it makes us consider our responsibility to improve our climate. If we don't stop burning fossil fuels, cutting down rainforests and start thinking more carefully about our carbon footprint we will continue to destroy our world. If we don't stop thinking about the pollution we are causing, the world will never become a better place to live in for future generations.
