Mummification

The Egyptians mummified the dead because Egyptians believe when you die you go to another world called the afterlife. The body needs to be preserved so they have no problem in the afterlife. They kept the persons riches in the same room so they can take the riches with them. The poor Egyptians they didn’t get buried in a pyramid. They put traps in the pyramid so tomb robbers don’t take the persons riches.

To mummify somebody you wash the human or the animal’s body from the river Nile then pour oil onto the dead body. Put the body in salt then rap the body in bandages. Put the body in a coffin then seal the coffin and you store the body in a pyramid. They take all the organs out of the person’s body except the heart.

In Egypt, cats who died were also mummified with the kings since they were thought to be a very sacred animal. Egyptian cats represent justice, fertility and power. Egyptian cats were praised because they killed venomous snakes and also protecting the King.
