Henry VIII

Birth and Early Childhood

Henry VIII was born on the 28th of June 1491 in the Palace of Placentia, Greenwich in England. He was born to Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. He had 3 siblings and was the 3rd child and 2nd son. His siblings were called Arthur, Mary and Margaret.

His elder brother sadly died on the 2nd of April 1502 so Henry VIII was now the heir to the throne.

A New King

King Henry VII died so his only alive son went to the throne at only 17! King Henry VIII was crowned at Westminster Abbey on the 21st of April 1509 and was the 2nd Tudor king.

Marriage

Shortly after his coronation, he married his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. They were married for 20 years until Henry wanted to divorce her for not giving him a son. When he went to the Pope to get the marriage annulled, the Pope disagreed so Henry created the Church of England which he was the leader of and allowed divorce and soon after divorced Catherine.

He married Anne Boleyn and this time he beheaded his wife for not giving birth to a son.

Immediately after he married Jane Seymour. She was his favourite wife because she gave birth to a
