My story of King Arthur

He was only twelve when he did it. The king knew he was dying. He hadn't got much longer left so he ordered the trials of destiny to take place so they would know who would be the new king. There were three trials, each one harder as they went on. Sometimes there had to be a different level if somebody had the same points as a different person. Arthur was only twelve but he still wanted to be the king. It would definitely be tough.

The first trial was pretty basic [for some]. What you had to do was this: you had to launch a rock as far as you can. Because being king was tough only a few people signed up for the trials [three to be precise]. They were Bloodbone, a tall strong and angry fisherman, Sabotage a mighty sailor and Arthur, little Arthur. Arthur was the third one to throw the rock and the record was twenty point three metres. Arthur threw it flying threw the air and it landed. The score was twenty point four metres. He had won!!! It was the most wonderful feeling he had ever felt in his life. But then again this was only round one and there were two rounds left, each one progressively harder.

The next task was in 5 days and Arthur was pretty sure he was going to lose it. It was a mini arm wrestling tournament. Arthur knew he shouldn't just give up because there wasn't really a chance of winning. So Arthur trained like he never trained before. He lifted tree trunks [well he tried to], threw heavy rocks and did 50 pull ups a day. And soon the day came. The first match that took place was Bloodbone and Arthur. The referee set them up and then shouted "THREE! TWO! ONE! GO!!!" Arthur straight away was under pressure. His arm was nearly down and Bloodbone wasn't making it any easier because he was kicking Arthur's legs under the table. Arthur kicked him back, Bloodbone gave a roar and slammed Arthur's hand through the table, nearly breaking his arm. Arthur had lost. Next Bloodbone won against Sabotage. Arthur beat Sabotage as well so Sabotage was out of the competition.

The final trial was three days away. The volunteers were told what you had to do in this trial. This was a race. Although you might think this would be pretty easy for Arthur because he was small and light, he had seen the others practising and they were fast because of their strong legs. This would be a close race. So today was the day! The total distance you had to run was 5 miles so for this race you had to have good stamina. All the racers had a good start apart from Arthur. That was because they cheated and started before they should have done. And to make matters worse Bloodbone and Sabotage took a short cut. But that is what Arthur thought. It was actually pretty good for Arthur. Because a few minutes later Arthur heard screams of help. It turns out Bloodbone and Sabotage were stuck in sinking sand. Arthur helped them out. Once they got out, a crowd had arrived because the racers had taken too long. When they had found out that Arthur had saved Bloodbone and Sabotage, they started clapping and cheering. They started chanting "Arthur is the new king". So they made sure Arthur claimed the victory.

That is how King Arthur did it.
