On Thursday 4 February 2016, Santiago and Calum attended a chess tournament. They left at

12:30 and arrived at 13:00. There were 6 other schools and there were 2 players from each

school. Each player had 3 competitive games. The point system was 5 for a win by

check-mate, 3 for a win by points and 0 for a loss. When they arrived they had butterflies in their stomachs. Then they played their first games. Calum won by check-mate and Santiago lost on points after the timer for 30 minutes. The next match was again a win on check-mate for Calum and Santiago narrowly won by points at the very last minute. The final game was again a win by check-mate for Calum and a win for Santiago on points.

Then the results were announced. Third place had received 18 points, second place had 20 points. Miss Healey was getting ready to leave (she hadn't done the maths) when first place was announced...21 points for the winners... St.George's (Calum and Santiago), had won the first ever chess tournament in Harrow.
