Sri Lanka’s Bombing Attacks

On the 21st April 2019, a series of attacks have happened in Sri Lanka. All of these events included a bomb.

Where did this happen?

Multiple attacks on churches in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa happened on Easter Sunday – an important religious day for Christians in Sri Lanka. The Shrangri-La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury hotels were also hit in the city of Colombo.

How many people got hurt?

Approximately, 365 people have died and over 500 people are injured. These people include adults and even young children. Many doctors and nurses are helping the injured people to heal. They are trying to help as many people as they can but some people have been severely injured and cannot be helped.

What are the police doing about it?

The police are investigating. They had six suspects who are thought to be involved with the series of bomb explosions but from the latest report one of the suspects already died while the bomb exploded in one of the buildings. Now there are only five suspects left. This group has been caught on security footage.

Thankfully, these attacks are very rare and we are lucky to live in a very safe country.
