The Tudors explored the world using sailing ships called galleons.This was part of the golden age of exploration. They explored for money and power.
How far did they go?
Belive it or not, they went as far as Cape Horn and India.Thats roughly 200,000 kilometres, which is a long way for a sailing ship.
Famous Tudor explorers
Sir Walter Raleigh went on expeditions to The New World (America) and introduced tobacco and the potato to Britain. Sir Francis Drake was the first Englishman to sail around the world in his ship The Golden Hinde. On the way around the world he landed in what is now California and named it Nova Albion (New England) and claimed it for his queen. John Cabot discovered Newfoundland, in Canada, in his ship Matthew.
