Hippies were a group in the 1960's that wanted to do whatever they wanted. They wanted to be their own person, not who there parents wanted them to be. Hippes often reffered to people who tried to tell them what they could and could not do 'the man'. Hippies belived that how you dressed was a big part of who you where. A famous hippie hangout was the Golden Gate State Park in America. In 1969 the Golden Gate State Park was burned down by the police even though many people were still inside of the park and this was a sign that the era of Flower Power and peace and love had come to a gruesome end. Though some people said that hippies were crazy (and they were not wrong!) they were also brave people, because in the 60's when hippies found themselves in danger when they came face to face with members of the Russian army and one of the hippies put a flower in a soliders gun, a true sign of guts!
