Anglo Saxon Jewellery - Archie
When I visited the British Museum (and went to room 41 where the Anglo Saxon Collection is kept) I saw lots of fascinating jewellery: broaches, rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets.
When I got home I designed by own Anglo Saxon Jewellery made out of plastacine and decorations from Christmas crackers! Here they are, I hope you like them:
1. This is a broach with gold wire beads and garnet stones of my own design.
2.
This was inspired by this original. On the top of this broach there is a pin for attaching it. I particularly liked the 3 swirls of red on gold.
3. When I went to the British Museum there were quite a few rings so I decided to make these 2 here. They have a golden hoop with a red base for the garnet on the top.
4.
This was inspired by this original. Instead of a golden base, I decided to make an orange base. But I kept the white backgrounds for the red stones.
5.
6. This is an original design inspired by Celtic weaving - it is part of a belt clasp.
This was inspired by this original. But I added lines circling the central garnet and I added gold beads around the outside for decoration.
