The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch
We have been reading the story of The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. In the story the seagulls steal Mr Grinling's delicious lunch! We imagined we were Mr Grinling and wrote a diary to express how cross we were with those naughty seagulls!
Diary extract by Harry J:
I am very angry because the pesky seagulls ate my delicious lunch!

I woke up this morning in my little cottage on the edge of the sea. I got dressed in my brown trousers, black jumper and a nice confy hat then I went into my gleaming white bathroom then brushed my teeth.

I opened the door and got into my little brown boat and sailed slowly on the wavey sea.

I went into the stripey lighthouse and stomped up the curvy stairs and into the room to polish the precious light.

I was looking forward to my delicious lunch. I looked out of the giant window and the pesky seagulls stole my scrummy lunch!
We designed an invention to help Mr Grinling to get his lunch and wrote letters to him to persuade him to try our ideas.

On Thursday we had a special Lighthouse Keeper's lunch with delicious sandwiches and lighthouse biscuits! It was yummy!
On Friday, we made our own favourite sandwiches to help us to write some instructions for Mrs Grinling to make some delicious sandwiches! They were scrumptious...we ate them outside in the sunshine!

This week we are looking forward to reading more of the books in the series to help us write our own story involving Mr Grinling!
