The next morning, I jumped out of my bed, fingers crossed, hoping that I would have my reply. But no such luck. As I walked down the stairs and checked underneath the letter shoot on the door, all that was there was my Girl magazine that I had posted to me every week. I picked up my magazine, sighed, and slumped ,my way into the kitchen. Mum was busy making scrambled eggs and bacon, but she looked up when I slouched down on my chair heavily. " Why the long face, old giraffe?" I didn't answer. Mum put her finger on her head in thought. She then sprang up and said, "I know! Your Girl magazine issue didn't arrive!" I shook my head at her. She then said, "You ate your... chocolate bear?" I rolled my eyes, and shook my head once more. "I know!" smiled Mum, "You didn't get a reply for the Junior Bake Off admission!" I quietly nodded my head. Mum passed me a plate of scrambled egg, with some sort of black bacon. "The bacon burnt. But everything else is perfect. I guess I had put the oven on too high." She then saw my forlorn face. "You know, pudding," she said, "You only posted your letter yesterday. The judges surely would have loads of replies, and they could be reading yours right now!" At that exact moment, the post slot slipped open. As it closed again, a letter in a golden envelope fell on our door mat. I rushed down the hall, eager to see what it was. Mum followed, smiling. I picked the envelope up, my fingers brushing it's glittery surface. In silver pen, it said, "Beauty Cookson, 45 Grape Gardens." I frowned. "They must've laughed at the name of our address." I said. Our address name was silly, as Dad had made them up when he was in charge of the Happy Homes company, before he left us. I opened the envelope, took out the crisp white piece of paper, and read. It said, "Dear Beauty, you are lucky enough to have been chosen for Junior Bake Off, by CBBC. This will start on Monday the 24th of October, 2016. Please prepare, practice and remember, all you do is BAKE! From Nadiya and Allegra." I squealed. Mum must have read it as well, as she high fived me. "Ok, Beauty. But we have one slight problem. Our week is booked out." I frowned. "Doing what?" I sighed sadly. "BAKING!" Mum beamed. I was ready for an action packed week.

We practiced baking cakes, buns, breads, biscuits and a load more. I stayed up till midnight to perfect everything. The trickiest part was probably making marzipan and frangipane, and I stayed up till 2:00am trying to perfect that. The time flew by, and soon after we had only one day till the competition was going to start.

I tried making frangipane again, with pear in it this time. It turned out very well, and me and Mum both had THIRD helpings of it. It was sliced perfectly by Mum, so I gave her some credit for that. We were so exited for the next day. I went to bed with my mould locked within a smile, as I drifted to sleep.
