Year 1 homework

10.06.16

As many of you know, today was the Queen's 90th Birthday, and so the entire school was in their red, blue and white clothes! Also, there was a picnic outside in the KS1 playground!

What did you wear?

As we approach the end of the academic year, we are now looking at consolidating our learning. Instead of sending out homework each week, we would like you to practice the learning objectives from the list below with your child.

Summer Term 1

Maths:

*Counting to 100 forwards and backwards.

*Read and write numbers from 1-50.

*Practice counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

*Practice writing days of the week.

*Practice writing months of the year.

*Being able to identify numbers that are one more one more or one less than a given number.

Literacy:

*Practice basic sentence structures including capital letters, full stops and question marks.

*Extending sentences using and, but, so and because.

*Learn all of the phase 5 sounds.

*Be able to recognize and write the high frequency words.

Reading:

We will continue to send out the teach reading books and traditional tales weekly. Please ensure that your child is reading regularly. You can help by asking questions about the text and getting your child to retell parts of the story.

All of this work can be practiced and is not necessary to now hand in your pink learning logs! We hope that this will help your child prepare for year 2.

Many thanks, the Year 1 Team
