Viking Longships

Fun facts:

Longship sails were made of

sheep wool,animal fat,tar and

blood for colour also maids,

little girls and servants made

them.

Viking longships were made of

small strips of wood that were

held together by big metal

screws. The longships held 50

to 60 large men who could sit down on small benches.

At the front of the boat there was a massive dragon head or

any dragon liked creature to intimidate the people on the shore. On the side of the

longships there were viking shields protecting the warriors from the wind and the sea. Also because of the size of the sail the longship could zoom through the water and it was that shallow it could get right up near the shore.

If it wasn't windy enough

the vikings would row the longship

the biggest longships would have

70 oars and the smallest would

have 26 oars.
