Henry VII

A long time ago, a boy called Henry VII was born to Margaret Beaufort and Edmund Tudor, on the 28th January 1457 in Pembroke Castle, in Wales.

He declared himself king from the 21st August 1485. However, he was only crowned on the 31st October 1485, after the death of Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.

On 18th January 1486, Henry VII married Elizabeth of York in Westminster Abbey. They had eight children but only four survived infancy: Arthur, Margaret, Henry and Mary.

Later, on the 21st April 1509, Henry VII died of tuberculosis in Richmond Palace. He was buried at Westminster Abbey.

After his death, his son - Henry VIII - became king as his older brother, Arthur, has died of an ear infection.
