The Pencil

There was a pencil called Scribble, he was a red pencil with a rubber.  He was a happy pencil who drew happy pictures.  One day he drew the biggest picture in the world.  It was a picture of a jungle.  But he thought that it was a little too big.  He made it smaller by rubbing lots of bits out.  And that’s how he made it smaller.  He felt a bit sad about it.  The next day he remembered something!   He had a read a book called “How to Make Pictures Smaller”.  He remembered about half of the book.  He took off on an adventure to find the book.  He went through cities and across the world.  He drew a picture of a rocket and it came to life.  It had an enormous engine.  It had lots and lots of windows.  He took off in his rocket with a whoosh!  In five days he had gone across the world.  His favourite place was New York City.

Eventually he found the book in Mexico.  But the bad thing was he had to fly all the way back.  He had forgotten how to fly his rocket!  “Oh no!” he cried.  “I’ve forgotten how to drive my rocket!”  He was so upset he nearly fell out of his rocket.  He remembered about the instructions of the rocket..

He zoomed across the world to get the instructions back.  The pencil drew a map to find the instructions for the rocket.  He went to all the places he had been.  But the two places he had not been were the North and South Pole.  Maybe the instructions had fallen out?  So he searched and searched and eventually found the instructions stuck in the ice in the North Pole.

“Now I can get back to my real work” he said.  And he did.  He got back into his rocket to go home and rub out the picture.  He then drew the best picture in the world of the jungle.  It had gorillas, monkeys, lions, snakes, elephants and big hairy spiders.  And a girl pencil.  He sprinkled the magic dust and the picture became real.  He married the girl pencil and had lots of children and a pet mouse.  They had lots of fun times together and the best life anyone could ever have.
