King henry VIII was famous for his six wives. two of which were beheaded. Anne Boleyn was the first he beheaded. this was because she didn't give him a son and she was also accused of having an affair with another man. Henry probably made that up so that he could marry Jane Seymour his 3rd wife. she gave birth to Elizabeth I. Henry was so mad he didn't even go to the christening!! The second wife he beheaded was only 16. Her name was Catherine Howard. she didnt give him any children because she wasn't given a chance. it is a very sad thing to think about...

Punishments:
We think OUR school is bad?! Tudor schools were horrible. Punishments were unnecessary. punishments like these:
1.) Punishment for loosing your school cap- A beating
2.) Punishment for making fun of another pupil- a beating
3.) Punishment for talking in class- A beating on the hand, rear end, face and back.
I'm sure teacher today sometimes want to do that!!!
Punishments for local people could result to harsher things like stone crushing. this is when you are blindfolded and layed on your back on a sharp rock. then a door is put over you and people start to put heavy rocks on the door until you are crushed to death.
Another punishment is hanging. A rope is tied around your neck which is attached to some scaffolding. you must stand in a certain place so that when the trap door opens, you will be hanging. the rope tightens and you are eventually strangled to death. you can also be burnt alive. You are tied to a post and the ground around you is set alight.
