The Vikings

The Vikings were a civilisation that came from Scandinavia to England for for food, fertile soil, more land and somewhere warmer. There where 3 types of Vikings; The Norwegian Vikings, The Swedish Vikings and the Dane Vikings. On their travels, the 3 different groups of Vikings took different paths. The Norwegian Vikings split up; some went to the UK, and some went to Iceland, then waited a few years and went to Newfoundland (we now know this as America)

On the other hand, Danes went round the the straight of Gibraltar to Turkey. And lastly the Swedes went east to Estonia through Europe to the Black Sea. Two of the most significant rulers of the Viking age were King Canute -or Cnut- and Eric the Bloodaxe ( as he was the last King of York)
