Year 6 Strawberry Hill House Trip

4th December 2014

As you may know, Year 6 have travelled to Strawberry Hill House for their 3rd trip of the year. We had lots of fun and we made our own ‘Gothic comics’. We made them using pictures we took around the ancient, old house and then finally editing them using ICT development.

First, we had an interesting and exciting tour of the house. As we went round the house, we thought about where in our comics we would take pictures in the rooms.

Then, we planned our stories and gave them a name.We decided that our comics should be scary so we chose a frightening name.

Next, we had to decide who was playing who and where the story would take place. Of course, there were  a few arguments around the classroom but we all eventually settled down and were happy with our roles.

Afterwards, we went and collected props and put on clothing. Dressing up was fun because we wore different types of wigs and cloaks so we could see what people would look like in the 18th century and why they would dress like that.

Later on, we went round the house and took pictures for our scary comics.

Some time later, we got to make our ‘Gothic comics’ on laptops. We included captions and funny lettering and speech bubbles.

Last but not least, we presented our comics to the rest of the class and the staff of Strawberry Hill House (they were all very impressed).

Unfortunately, we had to leave and go back to school.

At our real classroom, we finally got to observe the finished result.

We got dressed, took pictures, and made our comics. Sounds like we went through a lot, doesn’t it? But our ‘Gothic Comics’ looked amazing!!!
