Farming was at the centre of ancient Maya's life.


Many hundreds years from now the ancient people use to make temples. It is thought they created the concept of zero. This meant that they were able to complex and difficult calculation which allowed them to create very detailed and accurate calendars which they used for farming.


There houses was surrounded by farmland. There farms grew many types of crops at the same time like beans and chillies. The Maya people had three types of farming. The first one was raised field were they would farm on wet land. The second one was terrace farming which was they built walls to make flat fields. The third one was called slash and burn which is where they used jungle areas.
