DIWALI ‘SAFETY’ CARD COMPETITION

The Leicestershire Police, Fire Service and Crimestoppers are working with Leicester City Council to raise awareness about safety during Diwali time. They are running a Diwali ‘Safety’ card competition. You can get entry forms from the school office. The design needs to be completed over the weekend and left in the school office by 4.00 p.m. on Monday 14th October. They have asked us to pass on the following advice:

** Never overfill your karahi with oil.

** Never leave your karahi unattended with the heat switched on.

** Use only enough ghee for a diva to last your puja.

** Keep flames at a safe distance from curtains, decorations or clothing.

** Be discreet when wearing jewellery – ensure that it is not on show.

** When you go out, make sure that you lock your doors and windows.

** If you see anybody in your neighbourhood acting suspiciously – call the Police on 101.

** If you think a crime is being committed – dial 999.
