INTRODUCTION
An antique doesn't always need to be over one hundred years old it needs to be at least over thirty years old. Think about those big computers from the 1970's; people in the day would use it. Then think about today's people that use apple computers like macs but they don't use the big 1970's computers anymore because better gadgets have taken over . Imagine if everybody used those big ones from the 1970's , I would be bored.
Rare antiques are worth more money than common antiques because if that antique is rare it could be one of the very few left in the world and if it breaks and it was the last one in the world there would be none left and it would be like an animal extinction. When museums hear about this rare antique they like to buy it of people for a crazy amount of money so they can preserve it in a museum for a long period of time.
FUN FACT!
Did you know that the word Antique came from the word Antiquus in Latin which means ancient?
CAMERAS
Cameras are really complicated things that make it work and I am amazed that somebody in the 1920s would have made one!
The first camera invented was by a man called Johann Zahn in 1685 and it was roughly four metres long! It was a thousand years back that an Iraqi scientist Ibn Al-Haytham made a mention of this kind of a device in his book, Book of Optics, in 1021.
In 1914 George Eastman bought the rights to a method of writing on film, from his friend (and the inventor of the process) Henry J Gaisman and thus the Kodak Autographic system was introduced to the photographic world.
The sheet of carbon autographic system allowed the user to write information directly onto the film, using a stylus supplied with the camera, through a specially designed writing window on the camera back. The Autographic film instead of having the usual thick opaque backing paper, was wound with a sheet of carbon paper and thin red backing paper and it worked.
Think about how people in the 1900s who needed to type
a letter, well how did they do it?
Typewriters are all around in history; therefore, they evolve
like whales, so there are different types of them but which
was the first?
The first typewriter was a great succsess. Christopher Latham
Sholes, Frank Haven Hall, Carlos Glidden and Samuel
W.Sholes, Frank Haven Hall, Carlos Glidden and Samuel W.
Soule in Milwaukee, Wisconsinule in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
were a group of brainy men who designed it in 1868; it was
called the Sholes. This typewriter cost £75 pound and if you
came across one it would be worth a lot of money.
Mercedes Elektra was an electric typewriter
that changed the world: it could type
automatically! It was invented by a man called
Carl Schluns and it was made in Germany. Its
production years was 1921 to 1923.
TYPEWRITERS
ramophones
The gramophone and the phonograph were the first choice of music, since many people had radios. The phoneograph was the first choice of music and the music is recorded on a cylinder and the gramophone was recorded on a record. A group of inventors changed the world with this contraption: Thomas Edison, Eldridge R. Johnson and Emile Berliner.
This is the phonograph. It works with a cylinder and it was the
first choice of music. As you can see in the picture it is wind-up so
thee was no electrisity as we have today. The phonograph could record sound and play it back. The receiver consisted of a tin foil wrapped cylinder and a very thin membrane, called a diaphragm, attached to a needle. Sound waves were directed into the diaphragm, making it vibrate. ... The amplified vibrations played back the recorded sounds.
As you can see this invention looks
slightly different: the Gramophone Player. Like other record players, gramophones read the sound with a small needle which fits into the groove in the record. That needle is attached to a diaphragm, which in turn is attached to a horn. ... These vibrations are transmitted to the diaphragm, which itself vibrates, creating sound.
World War 2
World War two was a terrible time. Lots of interesting
contraptions were made, such as gas masks and shelters
and more! However, some objects like guns were used
for violence. In these two pages I will be telling you
what some of this stuff was used for and the history of it .
Gas masks were used for avoiding gas from gas bomb that
the Germans dropped during the great blitz. Many people
(the poor) were scared of wearing the gas masks, mostly
children, because it was dark and had know colour so they
invented the Mickey Mouse gas mask, which was full of
colour and less frightening. If you come across one of these
they would be worth a lot of money. If you do have one I
would advise not to put it on your face, because it contains
a terrible chemical called asbestos which causes lung cancer.
I would suggest putting it into a nice glass cabinet so you
can admire its history.
computers
When people had typewriters nothing could be recorded or put in a file so they had a dream that came true. Usually people's computers these days are not that big but back in the day they were enormous so in the paragraph below you will see their towering size.
The Z1 was created by German Konrad Zuse in his parents' living room between 1936 and 1938. It is considered to be the first electro-mechanical binary programmable computer, and the first really functional modern computer.
The Apple III (often styled as apple /// ) is a
business-oriented personal computer produced and released by Apple Computer in 1980. It was intended as the successor to the Apple II series, but was largely considered a failure in the market.
Development work on the Apple III started in late
1978 under the guidance of Dr. Wendell Sander.
It had the internal code name of "Sara", named
after Sander's daughter.

The invention of the piano is credited to Bartolomeo Cristofori (1655–1731) of Padua, Italy, who was employed by Ferdinando de' Medici, Grand Prince of Tuscany, as the Keeper of the Instruments. Before Cristofori invented the piano, there was a decided lack of a stringed instrument with a keyboard that
offered a range of musical expression and was suitable for public performances. The main options at the time consisted
of the harpsichord and the clavichord.
The modern piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori
(1655–1731) of Padua. He was an expert harpsichord maker, employed by Ferdinando de' Medici, Grand Prince of Tuscany, as the Keeper of the Instruments.
This piano had a completely different sound to the first piano: it sounded more gracious.

Most people think that this toy is very creepy but pesonally I don't because I like all antiques. You might have seen this monkey in Toy Story 3 or Close Encounters. Futhermore, this toy is worth a lot of money due to its age. This page will give you information about this interesting toy and what to do if you have one for example, operate it.
The Japanese company Daishin C.K. manufactured the classic cymbal monkey during the 1950s to 1970s under the name "Musical Jolly Chimp". It screeched and showed its teeth when its head was pressed. It had a black on/off lever on its back and came with a green arm tag.
Later versions from other toy makers copied
the facial expressions but often changed the
toy's outfit and name. In the mid-1960s through
the early 1970s, the Japanese-manufactured original
"Charley Chimp" was sold by street peddlers
on the streets of lower Manhattan in NYC.
Other brand names include "Wind-up Monkey
Playing Cymbals" from Russ, "Pepi Tumbling
Monkey with Cymbal" from Yano Man Toys,
"Clockwork Musical Monkey with Clashing
Cymbals", "Musical Monkey", "Magic Monkey", and
"Jolly Chimp". There is also one called "Charlie Chimp"
from Lincoln, which is different from "Charley Chimp".
Mamod
If you were an adult, would you let a 7 year old child play with petrol and fire and heat? I wouldn't but in the day of the mamod engine children did.The mamod is a small devise which come in different styles: mamod steam roller, mamod car, mamod fire engine , mamod stationary engine , mamod boat and mamod locomotive. They were toys that used petrol and heated up water and made it move like a steam train. I have the momod steam roller which is very good. Mamod is a British toy manufacturer specialising in manufacturing live steam models. The company was founded in 1937 in Birmingham in the UK by Geoffrey Malins. The name is a portmanteau of 'Ma'lins 'Mod'els'.
Cars
Cars back in the day, worked like steam trains and this car was very strange: it looked like a carriage without a horse with an engine. Exactly who invented the automobile is a matter of opinion. If we had to give credit to one inventor, it would probably be Karl Benz from Germany. Many suggest that he created the first true automobile in 1885/1886.
The Austin Motor Company Limited was a British manufacturer of motor vehicles, founded in 1905 by Herbert Austin. In 1952 it was merged with Morris Motors Limited in the new holding company British Motor Corporation (BMC) Limited, keeping its separate identity.
Pianos 2
A player piano (also known as pianola) is a self-playing piano, containing a pneumatic or electro-mechanical mechanism that operates the piano action via pre-programmed music recorded on perforated paper, or in rare instances, metallic rolls, with more modern implementations using MIDI. The rise of the player piano grew with the rise of the mass-produced piano for the home in the late 19th and early 20th century. Sales peaked in 1924, then declined as the improvement in phonograph recordings due to electrical recording methods developed in the mid-1920s. Electrical amplification in home music reproduction via radio in the same period helped cause their eventual decline in popularity, and the stock market crash of 1929 virtually wiped out production.

Thank you for reading this text. I hope you enjoyed it .
If you have an antique take it to a near by antique shop an ask a member of staff about it. Who knows? It could be worth a lot of money. Once you have done that you should keep it if it is worth a lot of money and sell it in a couple of years when it would be worth a lot more money.
