How is an earthquake caused?

An earthquake happens when two plates crack or make any movement. An earthquake makes the ground shake and can destroy a lot of things. These tectonic plates are huge, and when they do slip houses are no longer houses, buildings are no longer buildings. The buildings can be knocked down.

How long does an earthquake last?

An earthquake sometimes only lasts for a few seconds but can also last for a few minutes. Earthquakes are very dangerous. They can kill you and you can also become badly injured. Let me tell about the Haiti earthquake which done a lot of damage. Although it is not worst than the Valdivia earthquake which was 9.5 on the Richter scale. The Richter scale records how strong the earthquake was. OK, now that's done we can get back to the Haiti earthquake. The Haiti earthquake happened on the 12th of January 2010. It happened around 16:53 and the size on the Richter scale was 7.0. It was in North America and although not massive on the Richter scale the earthquake was really deadly. The earthquake struck the most area of country. In Haiti, the buildings were poor and weak so a lot fell down. Lots of people became homeless and others got injured and a multiple of people died. The earthquake only lasted for 30 seconds but if you think about it, it caused a lot of damage. Would've you liked to be in the Haiti earthquake? If you do you must be crazy. That earthquake was the worst.
