• Read your school reading book daily. Talk about the story and re-tell it

in your own words. Learn your Kipper words. (Sheet sent home weekly in the

wallet - Fridays)

• Read an ebook on www.oxfordowl.co.uk You will need a parent email address to register and search ebooks. You can choose books at your stage using the drop down boxes to find the Oxford Reading Tree Level. Why not try a non- fiction or poetry book?
• Use the BBC Bitesize Games English 'Small Town Superheroes'.

'Sentences', 'Punctuation', 'Spelling Tricky Words', 'Sound it Out',

'Simple Sounds', Sight Words' and 'Blending Sounds'. Choose your

level Easy, Medium or Hard.

• Write 2 to 3 sentences about what you have done at the weekends. Remember to use a capital letter to start, finger spaces and a full stop to end. Draw a picture to illustrate your work.
• Write the alphabet using correct letter formation. 'Practice makes perfect' so do it as much as you can. Learn the names of the alphabet by singing the alphabet song.
• Use the games on www.phonicsplay.co.uk to practice Phase 2 and 3 digraphs and trigraphs. Use the school log in details sent on the separate email. Try Buried Treasure, Reading Robot, Flashcards Time Challenge, Dragon's Den and Tricky Word Tricks.
• Read your favourite traditional tale such as 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' Write a book review or choose a character from the story and write a description.
• Can you write about the qualities you have that make you a good friend to others. Eg. I am kind, I help others...

MATHS

Listed below you will find suggested activities designed to help your child with their Maths learning in school over the next half-term. Remember to make it practical, fun and relate it to everyday life.



• Practise writing you numbers 0 to 20 using the correct

formation. All the numbers start at the top when writing them.

• Count to 20 and beyond. Can you count confidently backwards from 20 to 0?
• Ask your Mum or Dad to say a number under 30 and can you count forwards from that number, then backwards from that number. Try with a different number.
• Can you count in 2's to 30 and 10's to 100?
• Choose a number within 50 and say what is 1 more

and 1 less than that number. Challenge with higher

numbers and say what is 10 more and 10 less.

• Recite the days of the week in order? Can

you recite the months of the year? Write the days of the week in order. What is the date today / tomorrow/ yesterday?

• Play BBC Bitesize Games (Maths Key Stage 1) -

'Karate Cats' and work on the 'Addition and Subtraction

and Measurement'. Choose your level Bronze, Silver

or Gold.

• Play shops and get to know the different coins.

Use 1p and 2p coins to buy priced items. Can you give

change from 10p/20p?

• Can you measure some objects in your home? Choose 4 of them and use a non standard measure such as paperclips, crayons, straws, lego bricks to measure their length. Put them in order from the shortest to the longest.
• Find out how tall you are? How tall are your Mum / Dad and brother / sister?
• Rehearse your number bonds to 10. Write down the pairs of numbers that make10. How many different ways did you find?

Over the next 6 weeks, complete as many activities as you can from the list. Remember to ask your Mum or Dad to take a photo and be ready to email me by the end of the Autumn term.
