Green Shield bugs

Green Shield bugs (Palomena Prasina) are very hard to be encountered as they are camouflaged in massive leaves compared to their size. Shield bugs can grow up to, at their largest, about the size of the tip of your thumb, which can give you even less chances to encounter them.

Where do these live?

Green Shield bugs live in hedge grows, woodland edges, parks and gardens. The only time you could see these is in April-October.

What do they eat?

These microscopic beasts don't have a

personal way of eating,

but it doesn't stop them

from keeping their appetite.

They usually eat lovely plant saps,

leaves of trees,

shrubs and herbaceous plants.

What are their looks?

Just because these camouflaged mini beasts have very flattened bodies, it doesn't decrease the chances of being hunted. In the Summer and Spring, the stippling of black dots come in to add to the amazing appearances of the Green Shield bugs. These are bright green in Summer, and when Autumn arrives, before hibernating in leaf litter, they turn a greeny-bronze colour which can occasionally sparkle in the moonlight. Only one part of the body is unchanging and it's the tip of their powerful wings, and it's coloured in dark brown.

How long do these live?

Shield bugs cannot live as long as humans can,

but can until babies can talk. Their life span is up to .2 years.

It will probably be a lovely life as people would admire them.
