What is Shrove Tuesday?

Shrove Tuesday is a Christian tradition to mark the start of Lent. It falls on a Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. It is also called Pancake Tuesday, because people celebrate it by having pancakes. Pancakes are considered to be a rich food, therefore this will be the last opportunity for people to give something up for Lent. This also means that for Lent, we are meant to practise abstinence, to give up luxury and things that we don't really need like chocolates or going on to the internet. It is a good reflection of how Jesus spent 40 days of prayer and fasting. How about you what are you giving up for Lent?
