The Vikings sails were made out of sheep wool. At the front of the ship there is a dragon to scare off the enemies. Vikings grew learning how to use ships for fishing and travelling. The long ships are 30 metres long so they can fit loads of people on. The ships can hold 60 men. The Vikings built fast ships for raiding and war. They were made from planks of oak, wood joined together. A Vikings ships had a large square sail made of woven wool. Shields were brightly coloured and were hung over the sides of the ships as it entered port.
