William Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers in the world. Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. He wrote many plays, including 'Romeo and Juliet', 'The Tempest' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. He also wrote poetry and invented new words like 'eyeball' and 'bedroom'. His Father was a leather worker, he made stuff like belts, gloves and clothing. William Shakespeare married a woman called Anne Hathaway when he was 18 years old. He was an actor, that is how he learned to write plays and poetry. Shakespeare was writing his first plays near the same time as the Spanish Armada in 1588. Shakespeare passed away in the year 1616 when he was only 52.
