Enterprise

MICROSOCIETY WEEK 3

This week in microsociety we worked on creating businesses.

We learnt about enterprise. In microsociety, enterprise is buying and selling things and making money. It is about buildings and businesses.

In order to have a successful new enterprise, or business, you need to be cautious about what you sell and how much profit you will make. To start your business you need to have enough money to buy the goods in the first place and to keep stock rolling in so you might need to ask for a loan from the bank and pay it back when you've made your profit. There is always a risk of you becoming bankrupt if people don't buy your goods or if you don't make a profit. You go bankrupt if you spend more than you earn. A large part of making a profit is persuading people to buy your merchandise. You could advertise your stuff on TV or in the newspaper or even put it on the radio. There are lots of ways to persuade the world to buy your stuff.

At the moment, most of us are starting our own businesses selling merchandise, but in the future I suspect there will be jobs such as bankers and civil serbants.

Also this week we read the next part of NOTENUF and how they started to use seeds as their money to trade for things such as foodpacks, bread and sweet treats.

Mrs Cranfield taught us about human resources. She talked to us about how she had the job of recruiting and how to get people to come and work for
