Why we are against GMOs Abigail Magro year 6.2

Genetically modified organisms

Good or bad????

We say it's bad because:

• since they do not stay put where planted modified crops could contaminate nearby organics when pollen drift on the wind.

• Over time, pests like insects might catch up with GMOs evolve into super bugs and therfor the use of chemicals will increase.

• On an even darker note good number of powerful industries could dominate the entire food industry and control nearly every aspects of how food is produced. Their only concern is about making more money.

• GMOs are threat to small scale farmers. Small farms protect local products. Introducing anonymous products with no history would weaken a system which has also close links to the tourism industry.
