Micro-society

Scarcity

This time in micro-society...

We were told a story about a planet called Just Enough.

They had what their planet was called-Just Enough. They all lived happily until one day, one of the food dispensers was empty! That was because, their planet looked after them, but they didn't look after their planet! Throwing the packets everywhere, their planet became sick. The food trees started not to give food anymore, and the citizens started fighting over the last packet of the second-most popular food! For now, only the popular packets are going, but soon, even the packets of cabbage will be gone!!

Meanwhile...

In the head quarter of Just Enough lived the captain. Just when he was enjoying a packet of crisps, he heard shouting. As he looked out the window, he saw citizens marching towards him. He panicked. To calm himself down, he ordered a packet of strawberry foods. One of his servants said, "Sorry sir, there's none left..." Bravely, he announced to his citizens: "I think," he said shivering. The centre of attention turned to him and the shouting and fighting stopped. The captain gulped. "Because there's not enough, we will have to change our planet name to 'Not Enough'." There was silence for a moment; it was as if time has stopped. However, after a few long-lasting seconds, the shouting, fighting and marching continued.

And that was the part we read.

After that, we played a game about scarcity. We had limited resources to start with and were put into groups. We could only use the tools given. Some started off very limited and some started off with all the tools they needed. To get points, we had to cut out shapes very accurately. They were 10 diameter circles(10 points) and 10cm squares(5 points). We were also given counters that worth 5 points and we could also trade. From this game, we will learn how to manage with what we have and experience the adulthood real life. After some intense moments, the scores were added up. These were the results:
