The Mysterious Door by Conor Kennedy

I opened the mysterious door

and saw a crystal clear lake filled with shimmering fish,

and saw a cave full of mystifying darkness ominously begging me to take a step in,

and saw oak trees soaring to the sky with blue and white birds in their nests.

I opened the mysterious door

and saw a world of opportunity waiting for me,

and saw poltergeists dancing around a burning witch with green smoke billowing into the air,

and saw a troll hunched up over a fire planning how to capture it's next victims.

I opened the mysterious door

and smelt fox droppings waiting for a dog to roll in them,

and smelt a sausage being cooked on an open fire,

and smelt honey that was oozing out of a bee hive.

I opened the mysterious door

and heard a dinosaur chomping through a pile of bones belonging to it's unlucky prey,

and heard the snapping of branches as children ran quickly through the forest,

and heard the sorrow of people shedding rivers of tears.

I opened the mysterious door

and felt happy with this new world that I have discovered,

and felt anxious about what might be lurking around this mysterious world of untold stories,

and felt excited for the new life that this world has to offer.

My door is made from precious jewels and stained glass,

with an ornately engraved handle

and large creaking hinges with plants growing through them.

I shall go through my door and roam around my lost city of darkness,

then I will travel the deep murky seas

and set up a home in a yellow submarine.
